A series of deepenings and course work focusing on the structure of the New Testament cannon, early church history, writings of the early church fathers, events of the Council of Nicea, the adoption of Christianity as the state religion of the Roman Empire and its historical underpinnings, critical analysis of the epoch of Iconoclasm, the birth of the Holy Roman Empire, systematic study of apocalyptic theodicy of diverse Christian sects and denominations in relation to current world affairs, a psychological and spiritual effects upon the human soul caused by the doctrine and dogma of original sin. Origins of the concept of "Satan" throughout church history, study of Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek and Roman religious milieu out of which the early church rose. Emphasis upon Christology, eschatology and systematic theology within the framework of Biblical cannon. Prerequisite: seven basic firesides.
