Introduction to the Baha'i Firesides
When Abdu'l-Baha traveled throughout America in 1912 he spoke before churches, groups and societies each day. Afterwards, Abdu'l-Baha and a number of the believers and friends would gather at one of the believers homes and sit around the fireplace and in this informal atmosphere Abdu'l-Baha would answer the peoples questions and teach them the Faith.
Abdu'l-Baha instructed the believers that these informal "fireside" discussions were the best way to teach the Baha'i Faith. Since this time these "firesides" have developed into a series of classes which offer the seeker an education in religion and the Baha'i Faith.
There is no clergy in the Baha'i Faith. All the believers are enjoined to teach the Baha'i Faith. These teachings are offered to all without charge, and the seeker is encouraged to ask questions and know the truth with their own intellect rather than rely upon their clergy to think for them.
